Two years ago, Holocaust survivor Vladimir Munk returned to Auschwitz for the first time since he was a prisoner there. Born in Pardubice, Czechoslovakia in 1925, Vladimir was sent to Auschwitz in October 1944 after spending two years in the Terezin Ghetto. Both of his parents were immediately murdered in the gas chambers, while he was forced into slave labor at the Gleiwitz subcamp and later sent on a Death March to Blechhammer. Vladimir is pictured here by the entrance gate to Auschwitz 75 years after his liberation. Today, as we commemorate International Holocaust Remembrance Day and the 77th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau, we remember those before us who walked through these gates of hell, but never came out. We must honor the memory of the victims and the legacy of the survivors by continuing to share their stories with the world. Never forget. Never again!
