Harry Rabinowitz poses for a photo outside his delicatessen in New York City in 1910. The Rabinowitz family lived above the store at 1403 Madison Avenue and East 97th Street on the Upper East Side. Harry’s son, Jerome, later changed his last name to Robbins.
Jerome Robbins was world-renowned for his choreography in ballet and theater, as well as for his contributions as a director and choreographer in musicals, movies and television. Some of Robbins’ best-known works include West Side Story, Gypsy, and Fiddler on the Roof.
