Did you know that Dr. Ruth (Westheimer), the famous sex therapist and author, is also a trained sniper? Born as Karola Ruth Siegel in Germany on June 4, 1928. She was the only child of Orthodox Jewish parents. After surviving the Holocaust, where her entire family was killed, Dr. Ruth moved to Israel and joined the Haganah.
“When I was in my routine training for the Israeli army as a teenager, they discovered completely by chance that I was a lethal sniper. I could hit the target smack in the center further away than anyone could believe.”
At the age of 90, Dr. Ruth demonstrated that she could still assemble a Sten gun with her eyes closed. This weekend, she will be celebrating her 95th birthday! #MazalTov
