Did You Know? Israeli Tech Innovation

Did you know? Some of the most common file formats, PDF, GIF, and TIFF, rely on technology created by two Israeli innovators. Abraham Lempel and Jacob Ziv studied at The Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and went on to become professors. It was there that they developed the Lempel-Ziv data compression algorithm in the 1970s, revolutionizing digital storage and making it possible to save, share and transmit data efficiently, on virtually every computer and device today.
