Pearl Berg celebrated her 113th birthday this month and just may be the oldest living Jew in the world!

Pearl Louise Synenberg was born, at home, in Evansville, Indiana, on October 1, 1909. Now living in California, Berg is the oldest congregant at Temple Israel of Hollywood in Los Angeles and has been a member of the synagogue since 1937. According to her family, Pearl is the oldest person in Southern California, the second oldest in California, eighth oldest in the U.S., and she is tied for 33rd in the world. “We believe she is the oldest Jewish person in the United States, and likely in the world.”
