CONDOLENCES: Milton Glaser ?
Milton Glaser was born on June 26, 1929 to Hungarian Jewish immigrants in the South Bronx, NY. He passed away this Friday on his 91st birthday. A graduate of the High School of Music & Art and Cooper Union, Glaser went on to become one of the most celebrated graphic designers in America. Among his countless works and accomplishments, Glaser is perhaps most well-known as co-founder of New York Magazine, the visionary behind the poster for Bob Dylan’s Greatest Hits album, and the creator of the ubiquitous ‘I ❤️ NY’ logo. He has quite literally left his mark on everything from coffee mugs, to t-shirts, to yellow cabs. Throughout his career, Glaser helped to shape the visual identity of American pop culture as we know it. He was also the first graphic designer to receive the National Medal of the Arts. There is no doubt you’ve seen his work. Now, you know his name. Milton Glaser (June 26, 1929 – June 26, 2020). May his memory be a blessing, BDE
