Condolences: Leon Shear, 94
Shear was born on February 15, 1927 in Bedzin, Poland. He was a survivor of five concentration camps during the Holocaust and liberated from Dachau. Early in life, Leon rarely spoke of the horrors he endured while imprisoned during World War II. Only after Leatrice Rabinsky convinced Leon to educate her class was he able to describe the horrific atrocities that he and many others endured during their encampment. Shear married in 1950 and went on to have 4 children, 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. He lived by the words: “life is good”.
Photographed here is Shear in 2018 when he traveled with the FIDF delegation to Poland and Israel and celebrated his Bar Mitzvah.
BDE, may his memory be a blessing
