Meet Holocaust survivor Tibi (Ze’ev) Ram, one of only two people who has fought in all of Israel’s wars! Tibi was born in 1930 in the Carpathian Mountains and grew up in Hungary. In 1944, he was deported to Auschwitz with his entire family. He then spent nine months at a labor camp in Silesia before being forced on a death march to Bergen-Belsen. Tibi was the only member of his family to survive. In 1948, he immigrated to Israel and immediately enlisted in the Israel Defense Forces, proudly serving the state of Israel for multiple decades. Tibi retired at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and regularly gives educational lectures to soldiers at Yad Vashem: World Holocaust Center, Jerusalem. The first time he returned to Auschwitz, he was surrounded by 180 IDF officers. One of those soldiers was his grandson Lee, whom he gifted with his red beret.
