CONDOLENCES: Carl Reiner
Carl Reiner, beloved comedian and ‘Dick Van Dyke Show’ creator, passed away yesterday at the age of 98. Reiner was born on March 20, 1922 to Jewish immigrants in The Bronx, NY. He began acting as a teenager and even performed on the summer Borscht Belt circuit before entering the Army in 1943. During WWII, Reiner served in a Special Services entertainment unit, performing for troops all around the South Pacific. When he returned to NY, Reiner appeared on Broadway and in several comedy tv shows. He later teamed up with Mel Brooks and the two became famous for their “2000 Year Old Man” skit. Reiner became a prolific tv and film actor, producer, writer and director, and received many awards, including 9 Emmys and a Grammy. More recently, he made guest appearances on countless popular tv shows and starred in the Ocean’s movie trilogy. Reiner truly is a comedic legend and his work will keep us laughing for years to come. May his memory be a blessing, BDE
