Holocaust Survivors Reunite After Decades Apart

@humansofjudaism

Do you believe in miracles? I do.   They found each other!   Several weeks ago, when @Jaycee reached out to Humans of Judaism for help locating her grandmother’s long-lost friend from the Holocaust, we posted the following plea for help:   “This is my 90 year old grandmother, Henriette Glazer. She is a Holocaust survivor who has been trying for decades to find her best friend, whom she met in an orphanage in Caldas de Malavella, Spain. Her name is Bella and they tried to stay in touch but ultimately lost contact. My grandmother was around 6, so we assume Bella was 8-10. Here is a picture of the orphanage. My grandmother is in the black coat and Bella is wearing white with striped socks and a bow. Are you able to help?”   Well, lucky for Jaycee, the post was viewed by genealogist Dr. Adina Newman @myfamilygenie, who also runs the Holocaust Reunions Project. And a reunion it was! She was able to track down Bella and connect the old friends, first via FaceTime, and in a few months, they will be meeting in person.   We’re so grateful to everyone who shared their story and helped bring these women back together. Here’s a glimpse of their first FaceTime call, after nearly a lifetime apart.
