Check out this Sukkah on Fifth Avenue in front of the New York Public Library. Chabad of Midtown’s Sukkah hosts thousands of people each year during the Jewish holiday of Sukkot.
This Sukkah’s architectural plans are approved and signed off by the New York Department of Buildings every year. Its location is equidistant from both Times Square and Grand Central Terminal—two blocks in either direction.
The Sukkah uses real, fragrant cedar schach atop the structure, as opposed to bamboo or other dry plants. Even though it’s harder to install, it’s old-school, smells heavenly, looks lush, and more closely resembles the traditional Sukkahs of the past.
In the Chabad Lubavitch tradition, only natural greenery is used to decorate the sukkah – nothing man made. #ChagSameach
