Condolences: Morrie Markoff was considered the oldest man in the United States and the oldest Jew in the world. He was born in East Harlem, New York, on January 11, 1914, to Russian Jewish immigrants. Markoff lived through World Wars I and II, the Spanish flu, and the Great Depression. In 1938, he married his wife Betty, and the two were married for more than 80 years until her death at the age of 103.
More recently, at 100 years old, Markoff had his first art show, displaying his metal sculptures, and in 2017, he published his memoir, Keep Breathing: Recollections from a 103-year-old. He passed away at the age of 110.
