Here’s a photo of my mother at the Western Wall in July 1967. The photographer was my grandmother, who was born just steps away in the Old City and moved to the US in the early 1920’s when it was unsafe for Jews to live in Jerusalem.
The photo was taken just one month after Israel’s victory in the Six Day War, which allowed my grandmother and mother to pray safely at Judaism’s holiest site.
