Sarah Kaplan was a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Medical Corps who served under General Patton in the Battle of the Bulge as a nurse. She was discharged in February 1946. Her husband Samuel Kaplan was the first doctor to practice in Venice, Florida and later became instrumental in starting the first hospital there. The Kaplans came to Venice in 1949 and for decades were the only Jews who lived there.May her memory be a blessing.
