This is my Aunt Ruthie.
She became a nurse to help in WWII with her sister, Shirley. The war had ended by the time they graduated and eventually they moved to South Florida. Their family owned a nursing home. Grandma Sophie cooked, and their older sister was the bookkeeper. They were the first integrated nursing home in South Florida.
At 96 years old, she is still a licensed nurse- the longest continuous licensed nurse in the state of Florida! Today the Nursing Consortium of Florida honored her and she became the Daisy Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award recipient.
