Did you know that each year, an estimated one million notes are placed in the Western Wall? Visitors to the holy site often place small papers in the cracks of the ancient stones. The notes contain prayers, wishes and personal messages. Twice a year, before Rosh Hashana and Passover, the notes are carefully and respectfully collected by the Western Wall Heritage Foundation staff and buried on the Mount of Olives, following Jewish tradition, which preserves the prayers in a sacred place.
