Remembering that special moment when a Holocaust survivor holds her great-grandson’s hand for the first time. Olga Neuman was born in Curtuiusul-Mare, Romania in 1929. During the war, she was forced into the Baia Mare ghetto before being deported to Auschwitz in 1944. When the camp was liberated in January 1945, Olga was just 16 years old. After the war, she met her husband Sam z”l, and together, they started a new life. They had three children and settled in New York in 1963. Both Olga and Sam were the last remaining members of their families, but today they have eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. The Nazis tried to eradicate this family and erase all memory of it. But the branches of this family tree continue to grow and serve as a reminder that #WeAreStillHere.
