Leonard Cohen was born in Montreal on September 21, 1934. By 1973, Cohen was an international star. In October of that year, on Yom Kippur, the holiest day on the Jewish calendar, Israel was attacked by several of its neighbors. At the outbreak of the Yom Kippur War, the legendary musician dropped everything, flew to Israel, and performed for troops on the front line, saying: “I will go and stop Egypt’s bullet.”
