Remembering ‘The Happiest Man on Earth’. Holocaust survivor Eddie Jaku passed away one year ago today.

Born Abraham Jakubowicz on April 14, 1920 in Germany. After surviving Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps, Jaku later moved to Australia in the 1950’s. He was best known as the author of the inspirational book, “The Happiest Man on Earth” and was described as “an inspiration and joy” by Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

“I have seen the very worst in mankind, the horrors of the death camps, the Nazi efforts to exterminate my life, and the lives of all my people. But now I consider myself the happiest man on Earth. Through all my years I have learnt this: life can be beautiful if you make it beautiful … happiness is something we can choose. It is up to you.” – Eddie Jaku

May his memory be a blessing.
