This is an appreciation post for the Righteous Among the Nations.
According to the most recent report by Yad Vashem in 2022, there are 28,217 individuals from over 50 countries who have been honored with this title. These are only the heroes that we know about; many remain unknown.
Yad Vashem: World Holocaust Center, Jerusalem, recognizes the bravery of non-Jewish individuals who risked their lives to save Jews during the Holocaust. One of its core missions is to express gratitude on behalf of the State of Israel and the Jewish people for these acts of heroism.
Each honoree receives a medal, a certificate of honor, and their name is inscribed on the Wall of Honor in the Garden of the Righteous. The stories and testimonies of these rescuers are documented and added to the Yad Vashem archive, which is available to the public and serves as an educational resource.
We salute those who showed extraordinary bravery, standing up in the face of evil, demonstrating moral courage and humanity.
